THE PONCA TRIBE OF NEBRASKA
The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is dedicated to the purpose of improving the quality of life of Tribal members and their families. In 1990, the PTN achieved federal recognition through the Ponca Restoration Act. Next, the Tribe established the structure of our Tribal government, including the adoption of the Constitution and the Law and Order Code, and creation of the Tribal Court and the Ponca Economic Development Plan, mandating the creation of PEDCO as an entity separate from the political processes of the Tribe. | THE PMBO PROJECT |
The PEDCO Micro-Business Opportunity (PMBO) Project began as a one year program funded by the Administration of Native Americans for fiscal year 2008. Upon the successful conclusion of the grant activities, PEDCO sustains the project support of small business development for Ponca Tribal Member participants by providing FREE entrepreneurial training, start-up services, credit repair services, web-based technical assistance, and more. Services are tailored to meet the needs of both adults and youth. Additionally, the project links participants to other Tribal services and seeks to progress Tribal Members toward self-determined micro-business goals. PEDCO has partnered with several community organizations to enhance the project impact and sustainability.
The PEDCO website provides, via online videos, a step-by-step approach to starting your business from training to technical assistance to community resources to assistance with the development of your business plan...while you provide the drive and desire. We have recruited youth, adults and elders into the program leading to the successful startup of their own businesses. If you have a talent, vision, or just an idea and you would like to determine if it could be your future, or for more information, contact Becci White, 402-434-2127, or email Becci@PoncaTribe.biz.
